he Ann Arbor Reconstructionist Havurah Religious School warmly welcomes children of both member and non-member families in Grades K through 7. Classes are held at the Jewish Community Center on Sundays from September through May.
We encourage parents to become involved in the Beit Sefer and their children’s Jewish education.
The learning experience includes both a structured classroom and less-formal “learning occasions” that are integrated into Havurah activities, with an emphasis on developing Jewish cultural literacy and positive Jewish values. We continuously seek parental input into our evolving dynamic curriculum and encourage parents to become involved in the Beit Sefer and their children’s Jewish education.
Benjamin Ben-Baruch, a founding Havurah member, is the Beit Sefer director. Ben-Baruch has served on the Jewish Education Council of the Reconstructionist movement and enjoys a national reputation in Jewish education. The curriculum follows guidelines of the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation which focus on Hebrew cultural literacy, prayer and spirituality, Jewish living skills, celebrations, values, and peoplehood (including our relationships to Israel as a contemporary center of Jewish culture and civilization). The school provides 11-12 year olds with a curriculum geared towards Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation.
The school offers tuition discounts to Havurah members and families enrolling more than one child. The 2007-2008/5768 school year runs from September 9 through May 11.
